QA InfoTech participates as a platinum sponsor at PSQT North September 2008

It was a week long event full of discussions, presentations and demos about software quality and testing by nationally acclaimed industry experts who actually practice what they preach. That’s what is PSQT! It is the fastest growing conference that focuses on practical software quality techniques. The event hosted as many as 200 software quality assurance professionals. It featured concurrent sessions on software product and process quality assurance areas such as Testing, Inspections, Reviews and Walk Throughs, Software Process Assessment and Improvement, Quality Management, Measurements and Benchmarking, Configuration Management and Version Control, Change Tracking, Requirement Management, and automated tools supporting a software quality life cycle.

Many companies represented themselves in this forum. QA InfoTech, a leading independent Software Quality Assurance and Testing Company specializing in providing high quality testing services, was also one of them. The company had representations in tutorials, presentations and was also the platinum sponsor of the event. Akshima Labroo, Project Lead at QA InfoTech spoke on “Defect Prevention for Dummies – “Secrets to Building High Quality Solutions Proactively”. A major take away from the presentation was to realize that defects are highly contagious if not detected early on and that at times the cost and time involved in fixing the defects can supersede the overall budgeted costs. It also covered the weak entry points for defect injection and how to overcome those by implementing effective defect prevention methods. It made everyone aware of the importance of applying Defect prevention techniques (DP) in the Software Development life cycle and helped everyone appreciate the DP process which is an integral part of Defect management by means of quantitative and qualitative results on the benefits of applying Defect prevention activities.

Mr. Rishi was another speaker from QA InfoTech who presented his thoughts on “Improving Processes and Test Effectiveness By Using Metrics”. This was a yet another insightful session unraveling the complexity of metrics and the advantages of their application in software testing. It is this set of balanced metrics that he called ‘Qualitometer’. He appreciably conveyed how these could be used effectively to manage the overall testing efforts. It clearly showed that appropriate metrics used correctly can play a crucial role in software testing.
